The Camino Project was:
A 600 mile walk across Spain along the Camino de Santiago
A short film produced by 6 time Emmy Award winning producer Robert Abbott
An art project featuring over 50 artists across the US and Canada
An art show at The Farmington Valley Arts Center in Avon, Connecticut
An incredibly impactful moment in my life when I closed the chapter of my healing in Connecticut and I moved back to the PNW, lighter and happier as a result
I had the idea for this big endeavor when I learned that there was a special place called Cruz de Ferro, along the historic footpath where pilgrims left a stone behind. It symbolized their life’s worries and the weight of something that was holding them back. I wanted to drop off my own stone representing my years of trauma and abuse. I also wanted the opportunity to do the same for others. So I did.
While my bestie, John Alden and I walked and posted videos along our journey, I carried the stones of over 50 artists. I dropped their stones off and filmed it. In return they made art that represented their worries and sent it to Connecticut for a final show at the end. We raised funds to create a new scholarship program.
With the help of Robert Abbott and a team of interns, we made a film about it.
