Active Community Member

I was not always in the arts. I have been, however, focused on helping my community. Here are a few projects and roles I’ve had over the years that express my gratitude for others lived experiences and the struggles that folks face. I just like to pitch in to do my part.

  • Awarded volunteer of the year for the state of California when I was 12 years old for my work in support of kids with disabilities

  • Volunteered on the Oregon Governor’s panel on volunteerism, served in various committees with United Way of Lane County, Eugene Women Business Leaders for the Chamber of Commerce, and volunteer regularly for various community efforts

  • Coordinator of the Safe and Sound Program, served as intern for the Commissioner’s standing committee on community and economic development, wrote community development block grants and held press conferences

  • Raised money for Women’s Space, SASS, MECCA and many other local non-profit organisations

  • Served as Direct Care Provider (DSP), then climbed up the ranks in Oregon and Connecticut in service of adults with developmental disabilities and mental illness through residential care. I eventually became Senior Director of Mental Health Connecticut with a staff of over 100 and managed 12 group homes.

  • Served as a Behavioral Support Specialist and had the pleasure of consulting, writing behavioral support plans and training behavioral supports in residential, vocational and home settings

  • Served as Board member and volunteer grant scorer for Lane County Cultural Coalition and Oregon Arts Commission

  • Currently volunteering with Radiant Community Arts as a new Community Task Force Member
