Founder and Director

When I first started my business, Cindy Ingram Booking & Promotions in 2006, I realized quickly that I was the only female booking agent and large scale event producer and band manager around, maybe even in the state of Oregon. I found myself in some sketchy situations late at night trying to get my bands paid. Sexism was alive and thriving in the Eugene music scene. I wanted to create environments where women felt safe to perform and be themselves without being unsafe. I created GRRRLZ ROCK.

GRRRLZ ROCK was inspired by the Riot Girl Movement. They wrote a manifesto which stated all women had the right to be safe, even late at night at a punk show.

It began with a few shows during the month of November. It grew to more events than days of the month incorporating political, academic, and incredibly well attended events inspiring women and girls to celebrate women in the arts. There were visual arts, mentorship groups, dance, comedy, music and so much more. The Lane County Commissioners declared the month of November to be GRRRLZ Rock as did the city of Eugene.

After several years the amazing volunteer, Matrisha Armitage purchase the intellectual property of GRRRLZ ROCK! and it’s spin off, KIDZ ROCK and created MEPAA, a new non profit organization to support it. After more than 20 years it is still going strong.
